ル・マンはフランス西部の都市で、サルト県県庁所在地です。ル・マン24時間の開催地として世界的に知られています。1923年に初開催されたこのレースは、F1モナコGP、インディ500と共に世界三大レースのひとつに数えられる世界最高峰の耐久レースです。市内の公道を使ったコース（一部はパーマネントサーキット）で争われ、毎年1月1日から数えて24回目の週末に行われています。 現在、ル・マン24時間のほか、ル・マン・シリーズ、アメリカン・ル・マン・シリーズ、アジアン・ル・マン・シリーズも行われており、2010年からはインターコンチネンタル・ル・マン・カップも展開されています。
